This is Sabari Nathan, C.
I am an Research Scholar in the Centre for Disaster Mitigation and Management at the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore. My research is mainly focused on the Landslides, which is causing serious damage to property and lives.
I have done my Master's in Applied Geology from the University of Madras with a first class with distinction and a degree in B.Sc. Geology from Thiruvalluvar University with first rank and first class with distinction. My internships during my M.Sc. were with the Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), Bangalore, under the guidance of Dr. Subburaj (Regional Director), where I experienced hands-on training on various aspects of hydrogeology (occurrence of groundwater, groundwater resource estimation, exploration, aquifer mapping & management, geophysical survey, and hydrochemistry) and with the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), Dehradun, under the guidance of Dr. Gautam Rawat (Scientist-D), where I learned resistivity modelling using IP 2dwin and earthquake data analysis using Seisan. Furthermore, I did my M.Sc. dissertation under the guidance of Dr. N. Rajeshwara Rao (Professor) on epiphytal foraminifera in seagrasses and seaweeds which were my turning point into the research field. Not only that, I've done excellent fieldwork during my B.Sc. and M.Sc. where I've encountered more field-based knowledge. Also, during my M.Sc. I've assisted senior research fellows with their research on Hydrology, Environmental Geochemistry, Micropaleontology and Remote sensing. Apart from the academics, I have completed several courses from the IIRS and UNITAR.
